Tennis campers focus on skill development and movement. The coaches work with campers to establish the fundamentals of tennis, including technical work on all strokes, while making new friends in a fun and exciting environment. The most important parts of Tennis Camp are having fun, improving overall skills and giving your camper a sense of accomplishment. Campers are welcome to bring their rackets, or one can be provided.

Gymnastics Camp is more than just gymnastics. We utilize state-of-the-art equipment and programming to stay physically fit and have fun. Campers are divided into similar skill level groups to encourage interaction—a perfect way to work on learning new skills and making new friends! We incorporate active games and a trampoline for fun and spatial awareness. Campers also have swimming time each day in our outdoor recreation pools. Come join the Gymnastics Camp fun!
Attire: Shorts/leggings and a t-shirt your child can comfortably move around in. Girls can wear a leotard if they prefer. Hair past shoulder length should be in a ponytail each day.

INSTRUCTOR: UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON COUGARS
Campers will be instructed by UH players and staff on the fundamentals of hitting & defense. Campers will be split into groups and will rotate through stations in the morning followed by games in the afternoon. All campers will need to bring their own glove, bat, helmet, batting gloves, baseball hat, turf/tennis shoes (cleats are optional), and catcher’s equipment (if needed for camp). Please make sure the camper’s name is clearly printed on all pieces of equipment that he brings to camp. All other equipment will be provided.
Campers also participate in recreational swimming and other fun activities in the afternoons at the J. On Friday, there is a special sports-related field trip.

Pass, dribble, shoot! Campers focus on the fundamentals of the game: dribbling offensive/defensive maneuvering, shooting and conditioning. Basketball Camp strives to build confidence and emphasizes having fun while also teaching good sportsmanship, how to be a team player and other skills that your kids won’t even realize they are learning! All equipment is provided.

Sign your camper up for one of the hottest sports around! Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong using a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. The rules are simple, making it a great introductory sport. However, it can also be quite challenging, fast-paced and competitive for those with more experience. All equipment is provided.

In this indoor camp, beginners learn to bump, set and serve. More advanced players work on strength and conditioning to improve their current skills. By participating in games and drills, they learn the game’s fundamentals and enhanced techniques. All equipment is provided.

Campers travel to Clear Creek Country Club to work with Strike Golf Academy. Campers learn the fundamentals of full swing, chipping, pitching, putting, rules and etiquette. Whether they are brand new to the world of golf or ready to take their skills to the next level, campers have a great time! Campers are welcome to bring their clubs, or they can be provided.

This co-ed, fun-filled sports camp is back this summer and ignites a passion for all sports! Improve kicking, running, jumping and throwing skills while focusing on teamwork and good sportsmanship. Sports include basketball, indoor soccer, pickleball and volleyball. Playground sports such as kickball, gaga, four square, relay races and more are also incorporated. All equipment is provided.

Inspired by the popular “Ninja Warrior” competitions, this camp offers a fun and challenging experience where participants push their physical and mental limits. Join the fun with our NEW Trampoline Camp! Learn how to jump, flip and FLY with our state-of-the-art trampoline facility and HGC’s trampoline and tumbling head coach! This camp utilizes all three TnT apparatuses—trampoline, rod floor and double mini trampoline—from learning the basics to more advanced skills and incorporates active games, too.
Campers swim each day in the J pools. Catch you on the other side!

Performing & Visual Arts Camps

Lights, camera, action! This week-long camp teaches campers the basics of filmmaking, including writing a screenplay, shooting videos, acting and editing. Campers work together in small groups to create original video projects from scratch and each receive a copy of their finished work at the end.

This three-week camp offers campers the opportunity to be part of a full-scale musical production on the Kaplan Theatre stage. Campers experience all aspects of theatre, both onstage and off, and grow in their theatre skills, creativity and confidence. (Stay tuned for the play title announcement!)

This two-week camp offers campers the opportunity to be part of a full-scale non-musical production on the Kaplan Theatre stage. In this week-long camp, campers explore different dance styles with various teachers. There is a fun mix of dance sessions, crafts and games each day. Campers explore ballet, jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre and more. A variety-style showcase takes place at the end of this camp.

Our one-week Improv Camp teaches campers how to work and play together, creating hilarious moments and unforgettable performances as a team. The camp focuses on the basic skills of improv: teamwork, trust, acceptance and a “yes, and…” attitude. With those skills, campers learn to access and create bold characters and comical situations.

Fashion Camp allows campers to unleash their creativity and become designers. This camp is focused on fashion design—including sketching, designing, creating and sewing! Students sketch a clothing collection, learn to make patterns and sew a garment or two!

Cartooning is a fantastic way for your child to boost their imagination! Campers learn the fundamentals of cartooning and illustration through fun projects stimulating their creativity. Drawing inspiration from cartoonists and illustrators worldwide, campers improve their artistic ability, learn storytelling techniques and develop their cartoon style.

This class introduces game design and coding on the Roblox platform, allowing kids to build their games while mastering the fundamentals of coding and game mechanics. To ensure internet usage safety, campers log in to a secure account and are not allowed to use their personal accounts.

Campers learn how to build their very own beats, mix tracks and develop a one-of-a-kind sound in Beat Making Camp! The J provides transportation to and from Bach to Rock.

Let your camper join a rock band this summer! Designed for all levels, this program is taught by real musicians and has students playing full songs in no time. Campers learn the requirements of ensemble playing and teamwork. The J provides transportation to and from Bach to Rock.

Campers travel to a ranch for horseback riding camp! In this outdoor camp, they learn valuable skills in horsemanship, animal husbandry, arts and crafts, and more! Campers ride the trails daily and enjoy getting to know the horses. To attend this camp, campers must wear pants, have a fitted bicycle or riding helmet and arrive daily by 8:20 AM.

Bam! Crack! Dot! What Does It All Mean?
Mah Jongg is becoming a sensation across generations, and this camp offers kids a chance to join the fun! Participants dive into this popular game, learning what “Bam! Crack! Dot!” is all about while building critical thinking skills and mastering Mah Jongg strategies.

Aerial is a fast-growing artform that combines strength and grace. Campers travel daily to The Artz to learn techniques in aerial and circus training including fabrics, lyra and trapeze. Brave new heights and build self-confidence with this camp. An online performance takes place on Friday where campers can share their skills with friends and family. The J will provide transportation to and from The Artz.

Students learn impressive hoop tricks and how to combine them to create routines. The class improves balance, coordination and stamina. Additionally, students experience improved confidence, better creativity and enhanced social skills. There is a Friday performance to show off their new skills.

In culinary camp, teens work on their kitchen skills, creativity and team building, all while receiving hands-on instruction in making (and tasting!) delicious recipes. Each camper prepares their own lunch. In weeks 5, 7 and 8, campers also take a bus trip for a unique culinary experience.
All recipes are kosher style, and allergies can be accommodated. Campers must wear closed-toe shoes and have long hair pulled back.
