Pre-Summer Ceramics Workshop: Clay as Canvas
Join us in the JCC ceramics studio this May for pre-summer workshops! These workshops are a great way to learn more about a specific technique, get to know a new and knowledgeable instructor and leave with a beautiful project.
In this intermediate/advanced ceramics workshop, students will explore the potential of the ceramic form as a canvas for texture, imagery and illustration. Surfaces covered in class will be botanical-themed, but students are encouraged to investigate personal interests if preferred. In addition, there is an emphasis on planning through sketching and problem-solving glaze surfaces for both sculptural and/or functional ceramics. Projects will be introduced as hand-built functional forms but options to create sculptural or more complex objects will be discussed and up to individual preference. Some ceramics knowledge is preferred.
